Rocks and Paint

I saw a cute idea on some crafty mom’s blog about painting rocks to look like ladybugs. She did it in phases with her daughter, painting solid red and letting the rocks dry before adding the spots, wings, and eyes.

We needed a little craftiness and creativity here today as my daughter keeps challenging me to spend our days without computer or tv. She had collected quite a bag full of rocks over the summer and today felt like a good day to paint them!

We started out mixing colors in a muffin tin and painting rocks solid colors. By the end of the day, my son had jumped in too, the rocks were multi-colored, and my daughter was finger painting and adding other objects into the mix. Somehow, that is the way thing roll here…

I tried with some success to put a coat of mod podge on them. Here they are all finished 🙂 Oh- and no ladybugs, LOL.
